Henry County Walmart groper arrested

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. -- Police have arrested the man accused of sexually assaulting a woman inside a Stockbridge Walmart.

The suspect groped and rubbed up against a female customer at the store on Hudson Bridge Road, according to Henry County Police Lt. Joey Smith. He may have also approached at least one more woman.

Smith announced Tuesday that a tipster helped investigators identify and arrest the suspect, 28-year-old Roderick Steele Moreland of Stockbridge. Moreland was charged with sexual battery.

Investigators are asking any other potential victims to call 911 or Henry County Police at 770-288-8387.

Stockbridge mayor accused of threatening council member

STOCKBRIDGE, GA (WXIA) -- A Stockbridge city council member ended up calling police after he says the mayor threatened him.


Council Member Alphonso Thomas made the accusations against Stockbridge Mayor Tim Thompson following an incident during the council meeting this past Thursday, March 5. And other council members are backing up Thomas.

(WXIA) -- Interstate 20 will bear the brunt of this weekend's roadwork, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Drivers are asked to avoid nonessential travel on I-20, as road projects will require lane closures that will likely result in delays.

A number of surface streets will also be impacted by construction crews.

Cobb/Fulton counties: I-285
2 northbound lanes will be closed between Bolton and South Atlanta roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for concrete rehabilitation.

Coweta County: I-85
1 southbound lane will be closed at Sharpsburg-McCullum Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 12 p.m. Monday for barrier wall installation.

Thief stole phones then returned them in disguise

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga -- Police are looking for a suspect who may have a guilty conscience, or knows he is going to get caught.


The suspect stole to iPhones from a store in Stockbridge but returned two hours later to give them back.

Henry County Police think the suspect came back to the store to find out if their surveillance cameras were working.

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. -- A missing 17-year-old girl was found Tuesday after being reported missing.

Melina Ingram had last seen Tuesday morning at a McDonough-area hotel.

Henry County Police Lt. Joey Smith said that she had been located later in the day. No other details were provided.

(WXIA) -- Tuesday is National Pancake Day, and all Atlanta-area IHOP locations are celebrating by offering free short stacks to customers who support Children's Miracle Network.

Every year, IHOP restaurants raise money for children's hospitals nationwide, including Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, on National Pancake Day. Diners have the option of making a donation in exchange for free buttermilk pancakes.
