ATLANTA -- United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta is holding its annual shoebox project through the first day of May.
To participate in the project, simply wrap a shoebox (make sure the box and lid are wrapped separately) and fill it with new, unopened necessities for local women and children in need. Possible items include toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotion, deodorant and words of encouragement for the families who will receive the boxes.
Those who upload pictures of their decorated shoeboxes to the United Way Facebook page or tweet pictures of them with the hashtag #shoeboxproject will be entered to win two round-trip tickets from Delta Air Lines, according to United Way spokesman David Graves.
This year, five Charter Communications sales and service centers throughout the metro will collect shoeboxes from the public to deliver to the United Way.
