Cheddar's employees accused of trying to rob restaurant

MCDONOUGH, Ga. -- Henry County police have arrested two men who they believe were planning to rob a McDonough restaurant.

Both men are employees of Cheddar's Casual Café on Jonesboro Road and were plotting to steal from the restaurant, according to Henry County Police Sgt. Joey Smith.

Michael Pierre Henson II, 33, and 24-year-old Dewayne Ivory were arrested last Friday.

Smith said Henson and Ivory are accused of surveilling the inside and outside of the restaurant to prepare for a robbery. Police received a tip about the planned crime.

Both men are accused of criminal attempt to commit a felony and are being held in the Henry County Jail.

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -- Henry County Police are working to identify two women who was caught on video trying to shoplift at Walmart.

The incident happened July 15 shortly before 10:30 p.m. at the store on North Henry Boulevard in Stockbridge.

Henry County Police Sgt. Joey Smith said surveillance cameras in the store captured the suspects loading up two carts with $875 worth of merchandise.

One of the suspects was stopped by Walmart loss prevention officers while trying to push her cart out of the store without paying for the items. Smith said the women drove off in a grey Isuzu Rodeo with no tag.

Thieves steal batteries out of school buses

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. -- Henry County Police are looking for two men accused of stealing the batteries out of more than 20 school buses.

The suspects have taken 38 batteries from 21 buses at six schools, mostly in the northern and central parts of the county, since early August.

Henry County Schools spokesman J.D. Hardin said one battery was even stolen from a bus that was parked in its driver's driveway.

Together, the stolen batteries are valued at about $5,000.

"Our bus drivers are up early in the morning to start their routes but get delayed when they find their bus will not start because of a stolen battery," Henry County Schools transportation director Cliff Shearouse said in a statement.

MCDONOUGH, Ga. -- A McDonough man has been charged with beating up an acquaintance and leaving him in the woods.

The victim, 20-year-old Christian James, was reported missing Tuesday evening by his mother. His car was found on a dirt part of Elliott Road in McDonough on Wednesday, and James was found beaten in a wooded area nearby.

Henry County Police Sgt. Joey Smith said James met up with acquaintances, including 23-year-old Cody Parrott, at around midnight Monday. The two got into an argument, and Parrott allegedly beat James unconscious, then drove him to Elliott Road and left him and the car there.

James was discovered by a police sergeant who had joined the search for him, Smith said.

MCDONOUGH, Ga. -- At least two suspects unsuccessfully tried to steal an ATM from a Henry County pharmacy early Monday.

The attempted burglary happened at around 3:45 a.m. at the CVS on Highway 20 West in McDonough.

Henry County Police Sgt. Joey Smith said the suspects drove a blue and white Dodge Ram pickup truck with an extended cab into the front door of the store.

Surveillance cameras captured vivid images of the truck crashing through the doors and then driving in and out of the store several times. The suspects ultimately drive away without taking anything.

Walmart shoplifters caught on camera

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -- Henry County Police recently received surveillance video of a shoplifting case from earlier this year.

The crime happened Mar. 19 at the Walmart on Hudson Bridge Road in Stockbridge.

Henry County Police Sgt. Joey Smith said two women and a man stole two 46-inch Samsung LCD flat screen TVs and other electronics from the store.

The suspects drove away in a conversion van.

Wheelchair stolen from Henry County Publix

LOCUST GROVE, Ga. -- Henry County Police are working to identify two people accused of stealing a wheelchair from a Locust Grove grocery store.

The suspects took the wheelchair on May 31 from the Publix on Highway 155, according to Henry County Police Sgt. Joey Smith.

A man was caught on security video pushing a woman out of the store in the missing wheelchair.
