Man found dead in Henry County

MCDONOUGH, Ga. -- Henry County Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in Hampton last week.

Cameron Hall was found dead on Goldleaf Drive on July 12. Henry County Police Sgt. Joey Smith said investigators believe he was killed overnight.

Hall was driving a black 2013 Toyota Corolla shortly before he was killed.

BARNESVILLE, Ga. -- The family of the woman fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver on Saturday told 11Alive News that a suspect was arrested and charged Tuesday night.

Bobbie Jo Sumner, 39, has been charged with striking and killing 20-year-old Alex Desir as she walked on a sidewalk along a stretch of highway in Barnesville just before midnight Saturday.

A second suspect, Robert King, was also arrested in connection with the incident. King is Sumner's ex-boyfriend, according to Barnesville Police Maj. Craig Cooper.

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -- Henry County Police have arrested a 15 year old in connection with an attempted rape in Stockbridge.

The suspect, who was not identified because of his age, was taken into custody Monday after someone spotted him near the crime scene and called 911.

Henry County Police Sgt. Joey Smith said the teen is accused of exposing himself for a woman, propositioning her for sex and attempting to rape her as she tried to get her mail at the Villas at Eagles Landing Apartments on May 20.

Smith said the suspect does not live at the apartment complex. He is being held in the Henry County Youth Detention Center.

Police seek information on Stockbridge entering auto theft

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -- The Henry County Police Department is asking for information regarding an entering auto incident. 

Sgt. Joey Smith said on June 14, around 2:15 that afternoon, w white SUV pulled next to another car at the Shell station on West Jodeco Road. The SUV was white with a sunroof, luggage rack and dark tinted windows. 

The driver broke out the window of another car, and stole a tan leather briefcase containing the victim's wallet and two cell phones.

Dollar General robbery caught on video

MCDONOUGH, Ga. -- Police are looking for the man accused of robbing a McDonough Dollar General this week.

The robbery happened Monday at the store on Highway 42 North.

McDonough Police Maj. Kyle Helgerson said the suspect acted like he was buying items, then pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the cashier.

After receiving cash and a bag full of merchandise, the man ran from the store.

Security cameras captured images of the suspect, described as an older black man with white and gray facial hair. He was wearing a blue T-shirt, a green baseball cap and sunglasses during the robbery.

Henry County Police look for suspect in attempted rape

MCDONOUGH, Ga. -- Henry County Police are looking for the man who tried to rape a resident of the Villas at Eagles Landing Apartments on May 20.

Police released a sketch of the suspect late Monday, two weeks after the attack.

"He did attempt to do something but did not succeed," said Sgt. Joey Smith. "She screamed, and residents heard her. Before they got to her aid, the individual had already left the scene."

Police said the suspect approached the woman as she went to check her mail just after 11 p.m.

According to police, he tried to sell her marijuana, then exposed himself and propositioned her for sex. 

When she refused, police said the suspect pushed her down and tried to rape her.

But she screamed and fought back, and he ran away.

"I'll definitely be more careful when I'm by myself," said neighbor Erin Thompson. "I don't feel safe walking by myself anymore. It could have been me or one of my sisters. I'm scared."

1 dead, 2 injured in police chase

CARNESVILLE, Ga. -- Franklin County sheriff's officials say a person was killed and two others were injured when a car fleeing from police crashed on Interstate 85.

Authorities say the driver, 21-year-old Thanquarius Calhoun, of McDonough, and 20-year-old Reltheal Morton, of Auburn, were hospitalized in the crash Tuesday. The identity of the dead passenger has not been released.

Officials say the chase began when a Banks County Sheriff's deputy tried stopping the car and the driver fled. The chase reached a speed of over 100 mph and prompted a response by the Georgia State Patrol. The car eventually veered off the road, flipped multiple times and hit a tree.

Authorities say Calhoun will be charged with vehicular homicide, felony fleeing, DUI, reckless driving. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
