Man tries to steal iPads from Walmart

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -- Henry County Police are looking for a man suspected of shoplifting at a Walmart.

The incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at the store on North Henry Boulevard in Stockbridge.

Henry County Police Maj. Jason Bolton said the suspect tried to steal five iPads. When confronted by Walmart loss prevention officers, he ran from the store and managed to get away in a green Ford Excursion.

11Alive News has learned that two metro Atlanta men who recently pled guilty to federal drug trafficking charges have been operating a Sandy Springs facility for recovering addicts for several years.

In October, federal prosecutors announced the indictment of Drew T. Green, Thomas Malone Jr. and eight others for drug trafficking, money laundering and conspiracy, alleging they were operating one of the largest synthetic drug cartels in the country.

Federal prosecutors say Green and Malone's company Nutragenomics sold millions of dollars worth of chemicals used to manufacture so-called designer drugs like synthetic marijuana and bath salts.

"I've come to a point where I refuse to use the term synthetic marijuana. It gives these poisons too much credence," said Lance Dyer whose son Dakota committed suicide after smoking a synthetic marijuana product named "Mr. Miyagi."

 "These drugs are literally poisons."

ELLENWOOD, Ga. -- Two men are still on the run after robbing a Henry County convenience store last month.

The robbery happened at around 10:45 p.m. Nov. 7 at the BP on Panola Road in Ellenwood.

Henry County Police Sgt. Joey Smith said one of the suspects held the clerk at gunpoint, while the other jumped the counter and stuffed cash and merchandise in a backpack.

The entire crime was caught on store surveillance video.

MCDONOUGH, Ga. -- A man accused of threatening to blow up a Henry County bank will face federal charges.

Henry County Police Sgt. Joey Smith said 52-year-old Thomas Bradley of McDonough tried to rob the BB&T on Jonesboro Road on Nov. 21.

According to Smith, Bradley pulled up to the bank's drive-thru and handed the teller a note saying that a bomb would go off in the bank if he did not receive money.

Bradley was eventually identified as a suspect through his car, a light blue Nissan Versa.

Smith said Bradley did not receive any money during the attempted robbery.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Investigators in Cherokee County have nabbed three men suspected of smash and grab burglaries in at least five metro Atlanta counties.

Vincent Donahue, James Hill and Mark McCain were taken into custody Nov. 28.

Cherokee County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said the suspects are believed to be the men behind seven burglaries in Cherokee, Cobb, Douglas, Henry and Rockdale counties.

In each case, the suspects broke the front doors out of a convenience store and made off with cartons of cigarettes.

Baker said the three men were arrested after they were pulled over on Highway 92 in Woodstock. Investigators found plastic bins similar to the ones used in the robberies in their car, as well as a hammer, rubber gloves, masks, a sledgehammer and a small amount of heroin.

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -- Henry County Police are investigating a case of several car break-ins outside a Stockbridge gym.

The break-ins happened at around 7:45 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Gold's Gym on 250 Business Center Drive.

Henry County Police spokesman Maj. Jason Bolton said the suspect took several gym patrons' keys, which were hung by the front door. He then used the keys to enter several cars in the parking lot and take items from them.

The suspect was captured on security video and is described as a black man with a beard. He appeared to drive away in a full size car with a sunroof, Bolton said.

ALDI employee shot in foot during robbery

MCDONOUGH, Ga. -- An employee of a McDonough ALDI grocery store was shot in the foot during a robbery Thursday.

Henry County Police spokesman Sgt. Joey Smith said the robbery happened at around 8:45 p.m. at the store on Jonesboro Road.

Smith said the suspect waited inside the store until closing and then demanded money from the three employees working at the time. He shot one employee and then ran from the store with cash.

The victim was taken to Piedmont Henry Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, Smith said.

The employees described the gunman as a black man, about 40 to 50 years old, 5-feet-8-inches tall and 150 pounds. He was wearing grey sweatpants and a grey hooded sweatshirt with AND1 printed on the front.
