Stockbridge family gets organized on Rachael Ray Show

STOCKBRIDGE, GA (WXIA) – A family of 17 is putting their New Year's resolutions to work and taking a 31-day challenge with the Rachael Ray Show.

Lachelle Adkins like to believe her days are filled with controlled chaos.

The 42 year-old mother of 15 – yes, 15 kids – has a plan for 2015: to get her home and life more organized.

"For each challenge you have, try to incorporate as many family members you can so you can get the task done," she said.

The Rachael Ray Show contacted the Adkins family to participate in a 31-day New Year Challenge to get organized. They will take on a chore for just 10 minutes a day for 31 days.

"I have 15 children and lots of clutter," she said.

Keeping kids’ minds sharp over winter break

Keeping kids’ minds sharp over winter break

By Megan Nellen, Lower School Principal at The Walker School

1. Community Service: Use the break to plan community service ideas for the coming year. Kids can write flyers and notes asking neighbors to save and donate any holiday décor they plan on tossing out to be used next year for a family without a tree or decorations. Children of all ages can help make and deliver sandwiches for a homeless mission or shelter or make cards and pictures for a local nursing home.

2. Reuse, Recycle, Entertain: Collect leftover boxes, ribbons and paper and have your kids use them to build a robot or make a game. Each year at The Walker School second graders use cardboard to make arcade games.

The criminal’s objective is to maximize gain and minimize risk, and he’ll usually pick the easiest target with the most to offer. Given these odds, it pays to take precautions by following some basic safety rules:
