Federal drug agents raid home in Hampton | News
HAMPTON, GA (WXIA) – Federal drug enforcement agents executed what appears to have been a large raid on a home Tuesday afternoon in Hampton.
11Alive News learned of the raid in a phone call from a neighbor on Winston Way, near the border of Hampton and Lovejoy. The spoke of trucks and bags being brought out of the nearby home.
The DEA is saying few words about what happened – simply that this was a case in Alabama that found its way to Georgia.
Local DEA agents worked with the office out of Montgomery, Alabama. We spoke with several people who live on the block – a normally calm area that, based on location alone, has a natural police presence.
“It’s a quiet neighborhood. We have a jail down the street,” said neighbor Edward Koivu. “Clayton County has a gun range down the street. There’s a lot of police coming and going all the time, so I can’t see anyone doing anything stupid.”
This is a tight-knit community. Several folks who wouldn’t go on camera said they knew the man who owns the home, and did not expect to see that home surrounded by federal agents.
