STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — Police have found the young woman they say abandoned her newborn infant near a local hospital.

Authorities are not releasing the mother's name at this time, but say she is in her teens. Emergency officials have taken her to get medical attention.

According to Henry County Police, a 911 call was placed early Sunday morning from a Walmart on Hudson Bridge Road informing authorities about the infant.

First responders found the baby unharmed around 5 a.m. at a dental office located next to Piedmont Henry hospital. A spokesman for the Henry County Police Department says the infant was likely born two to three hours before the 911 call was placed.

Police tell 11Alive that the infant is in good condition. They gave a statement to 11Alive News that reads:

The mother was located, young teenager and is being treated at a medical facility. The case may be presented to the appropriate court to determine charges. Our priority is the welfare of the baby boy and mother.
