2 County Officials named Most Influential by Georgia Trend

McDonough - Henry County Development Authority Executive Director Bob White and Henry County Commission Chairman Elizabeth ‘B. J.' Mathis were named to the list of “Top 100 Most Influential Georgians” and “Most Notable Georgians,” respectively, by Georgia Trend magazine in its January 2012 issue.

Each year, for the past 14 years, editors at the magazine have compiled a list of influential and notable Georgians who affect the lives and livelihood of citizens in some way. Those on the list come from all walks of life and various occupations, such as business, politics, entertainment, the arts, public service and journalism.

Under White’s leadership, the Henry County Development Authority has brought in

$1 billion in capital investment in Henry County, including the recruitment or expansion of more than 60 industries, such as Amazon.com, Georgia Power, Sun Trust Services Corp., Toys ‘R’ Us and Whirlpool. White also serves as Chairman for the Georgia Economic Developers Association.

“I’m obviously very flattered and humbled to have been selected by Georgia Trend Magazine for inclusion in their ‘100 Most Influential Georgians’ list,” said White. “I feel certain that I was included based on my leadership in 2011 as Chairman of the Georgia Economic Developers Association, and I’m proud to join my fellow economic developers on this select list.”

Mathis has served on the Henry County Board of Commissioners since 2005 and this year, finishes up her first term as Chairman. Under her leadership, she has focused heavily on economic development, affecting great progress on everything from infrastructure and quality of life enhancements to education and workforce development.  This past year she was also appointed to the Atlanta Regional Roundtable Executive Committee, where she worked diligently to protect Henry County’s interests as the committee worked to designate the projects for the Regional SPLOST.

"Georgia Trend is a well-known and respected publication. To be recognized by them for my leadership is truly an honor," said Mathis.

The complete list of honorees may be viewed in the current issue of Georgia Trend magazine, January 2012.
