Flippen ES administrators are 'good sports' when it comes to reading | Schools

MCDONOUGH, Ga. -- The principal and assistant principal of Flippen Elementary School recently took a somewhat unconventional approach to encourage students to participate in this year's Scholastic All-Star Book Fair.
Principal Dr. Toni Obenauf and assistant principal Johnny Harrell challenged the student body to purchase 750 books during the fair.
The children far exceeded that goal and bought more than 1,100 books.
To celebrate the kids' excitement about reading, Obenauf and Harrell dressed up as sports figures. The twist? Dr. Obenauf was a football player, while Mr. Harrell was a cheerleader, complete with pom poms.
Needless to say, the students were delighted when their administrators wore the new attire and encouraged them to read.
