Henry County HS senior honored by Work-Based Learning Program

MCDONOUGH, Ga. -- Jordan McDuffie has been named the Henry County Work-Based Learning Program's Student of the Month for December.

McDuffie is a senior at Henry County High School in McDonough. He works as a cashier and bagger at the Publix at Paradise Pointe at Lake Dow.

He is proud of his job. "It has taught me how to deal with a busy schedule and discipline myself," he said.

In addition to working at Publix, McDuffie maintains an A average and runs varsity track. He hopes to go to college and study forensic anthropology.

His supervisors are impressed with his work ethic.

"Jordan makes sure our customers leave satisfied and he exemplifies the Publix spirit," Publix employee Jennifer Nash said.

The Work-Based Learning Program gives Henry County high school students a chance to gain meaningful work experience before they join the working world. Chad Drake, the program's learning coordinator, said McDuffie is a prime example of Work-Based Learning's success.

"I know Jordan has a bright future ahead of him, and I am glad that Work-Based Learning could be a part of it," Drake said in a statement.
