Local farm honors survivors of Breast Cancer with special ceremony & balloon release

(McDonough, Ga) A family farm in McDonough, Southern Belle Farm hosted a special breast cancer awareness event this past Saturday, Oct. 1st at the farm.  Survivors of breast cancer were honored, and those who have been lost were remembered in the ceremony, pink parade and special pink balloon release.  Many local residents participated in the event.

Southern Belle Farm will be donating over $1,000 to a local cancer charity, funds that were raised from the weekend.  Community supporters who joined the event included Dr. Timbert of Southern Crescent Breast Specialist, Henry Medical Center and the 'Real Men Wear Pink' - including some of the 'real men' Jim Chafin, Paul White, Ken Wright and Brian Strickland also attended the event.  Jimmy Carter, another one of the 'Real Men Wear Pink' hosted the event in with his wife Kathy Carter, a breast cancer survivor.  WKHX Kicks 101.5fm in Atlanta has also played a role in promoting breast cancer awareness with this year's corn maze design as a partner.

This year's cornfield maze design reads 'Save the Udders' which is why the farm kicked off October, the national breast cancer awareness month with the 'Save the Udders' event.  For more information on the farm, corn maze and other efforts of breast cancer awareness, visit www.SouthernBelleFarm.com.
